Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 23, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to Tinni's Privacy Policy. This policy explains how Tinni ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and related services (the "Service").
Tinni is developed and operated by Andrei Matei PFA. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. This policy applies to all users of our iOS application.
We designed Tinni as a "local-first" application, meaning the vast majority of your data never leaves your device.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide to Us
App Preferences and Profiles: When using the app, you may create frequency profiles, hearing results, custom scenes, saved sounds, and sleep timer defaults. This information is stored locally on your device using on-device app storage such as UserDefaults. We do not have access to this data.
Information We Collect Automatically
Anonymized Usage Data: We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics provider, to automatically collect anonymous usage signals. This helps us understand how the app is being used without identifying individual users. We collect:
- General app interactions (e.g., which features or screens are used most)
- Time spent using the app
- App version and operating system version
Payment Information: We do not directly collect or store your payment information. All transactions are processed securely through Apple's App Store. We only receive anonymous confirmation of your purchase status.
Information We Explicitly Don't Collect
We do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or account passwords (the app does not require an account)
- Precise location data
- Audio recordings or microphone data (the app uses audio playback only)
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or cross-app tracking data
- Sensitive personal health or medical information on our servers
How We Use Your Information
Since we do not collect personal data, the limited anonymous data we do gather is used solely to:
- Analyze general app usage to identify popular features and areas for improvement.
- Fix bugs and optimize the performance of the audio engine and user interface.
- Ensure the core functionality of the app works seamlessly across different iOS devices.
How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in these limited, privacy-safe circumstances:
Service Providers: We work with trusted third-party services that help us operate our app:
- TelemetryDeck: For fully anonymized, aggregate app usage analytics.
- Apple: For securely processing in-app purchases and subscriptions.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.
Apple Health Integration
Tinni can optionally save complete hearing test audiograms to Apple Health if you choose to enable that feature. Health data permissions are handled entirely by Apple through HealthKit, and the data is written directly from your device to your Apple Health database.
We do not receive, sync, or store your Apple Health data on our servers. If you do not grant Apple Health permission, this feature remains off and the rest of the app continues to work normally.
Data Storage and Security
Local Storage: Your personal preferences, hearing history, sound mixes, and frequency profiles are stored locally on your iOS device. If your device is backed up to iCloud, this data is secured by Apple's encryption standards.
Data Retention: You have full control over your local data. If you delete the Tinni app from your device, all locally stored preferences and profiles are permanently deleted with it, unless recovered from a personal device backup.
Your Rights and Choices
Because Tinni operates locally without user accounts, managing your data is natively handled via your device:
- Data Deletion: You can delete all your data simply by uninstalling the app.
- Analytics Opt-Out: If you wish to limit all app analytics, you can review Apple's built-in iOS privacy settings. However, rest assured all data collected via TelemetryDeck is strictly anonymous.
If you reside in the European Union (GDPR) or California (CCPA), your rights to access, portability, and deletion are naturally upheld by our architecture, as we possess no personally identifiable data tied to you on our servers.
Children's Privacy
Tinni is designed for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns, please contact us.
Medical Disclaimer
While Tinni provides audio tools designed for sound therapy, hearing screening, and tinnitus relief, it is not a medical device. Any hearing check or audiogram features are for informational screening only and are not a diagnosis. Please consult with a healthcare professional for actual medical diagnosis or treatment of hearing conditions.
Third-Party Services
Our app integrates with limited services, each adhering to strict privacy guidelines:
- TelemetryDeck: Privacy Policy
- Apple Health / HealthKit: Privacy Information
- Apple (App Store & iCloud): Privacy Policy
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy if our data practices or app features evolve. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review it periodically.
